| Vote NO on MEASURE M – March 8
Reject the unfair “Sin Tax” on medical marijuana in Los Angeles!
The LA City Council wants to add a 5% “sin tax” on medical marijuana – on top of the sales tax legal patients already pay! That is an unreasonable burden for patients, who will ultimately bear the cost of this new tax. Did you know? • Medical marijuana patients already pay sales tax on their medicine. • The Sin Tax imposed under Measure M will bring the patients’ tax burden to 14.75% – one of the highest tax rates in the state. • The city’s new ordinance requires collectives and cooperatives to pay all the costs of regulation, so the 5% tax is not needed. • Medical marijuana is not covered by insurance, so patients pay all costs and taxes out of pocket. |
